As Mulheres de Bucos vieram à Retrosaria no âmbito da programação da MPAGDP para a Festa no Chiado. A sala foi pequena para todos os que as vieram ver e ouvir. Na fila da frente, um rapazinho desenhava à vista a dobadoira. Entre cantigas, as mulheres enunciaram as fases da lã numa língua para elas óbvia mas estranha a quase todos os ouvidos urbanos: estoquear, amolentar, desguedelhar, cardar…

The Women of Bucos came from Minho to sing and show their work Retrosaria. They are a group of talented spinners, weavers and knitters from a small village in the north of Portugal (Bucos) who have learned their skills from their mothers and grandmothers. Once a week they meet at Casa da Lã to work together and keep the tradition alive.
